Here at Greenhaven Farm, we breed all 3 feather colors of the beautiful Copper Marans. We focus on egg color, and strong and healthy birds, that lays beautiful brown chocolate eggs, and sometimes with speckles (especially from our splash marans hens). We also have high focus on breeding for docile roosters, as we know this breed is one of the most popular breeds for using roosters for breeding dark eggs, olive eggers, and back crossed olive eggers. We are grateful to be able to have added some dark BCM genetics from other breeders like Mojo Homestead in 2025 and Eight Acres in 2026. We feel it is important to highlight other breeders on our website, because we know how much work that goes into breeding, and we are grateful that these two amazing breeders hard work are now contributing to our genetics here at Greenhaven Farm. These birds are hardy due to the selection of genetics we have combined, and will make great additions to your backyard flock. Let us know if you have any preferences and we will try to accommodate based on availability. Our Greenhaven Farm facebook page usually has the current chick schedule posted for exact BBS feather colors and dates availability. We focus on hatching from our darkest, and/or speckled, and/or heavy bloomed. We will never claim we have the darkest marans eggs. We are happy to show you our current egg colors and you can decide if it's dark enough for you or not. If requested prior to hatching, we are happy to provide you with the shell your chick came out of. Keep in mind that the egg color will fade as the season goes along, and our eggs are not always as dark as some of these pictures.

Chicks, BBS Copper Marans
- Occasionally, a breed may not hatch as well as expected. When placing an order, let us know if you would be willing to accept substitutions and what breeds in the notes section of the order. If you do want a substitution we will provide EITHER a refund for the cost of any chicks not available, or you will be next in line to have your order fulfilled.
- If your baby chicks dies within 48 hours of you picking up please contact us to arrange for a replacement.
- Cancellations up to 7 days before the estimated hatch date. A 15% cancellation fee will be applied to any cancellations and the remainder of funds paid will be returned. To cancel your order please send an email with your order number and the reason for the cancellation to greenhaven@greenhaven-farm.com.
- The reason why we charge a cancellation fee is because when orders are paid for or booked they are taken off the market for sale and are marked sold. We could have a lost opportunity for a buyer if cancelled. Cancelled orders create bookkeeping and labor cost to process that cancelled order and along with postage or credit card fees to reprocess credits.
- No returns of Live or Dead Poultry Allowed due to Biosecurity Measures set forth by the National Poultry Improvement Program (NPIP) & the Animal Plant & Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
No Shipping, must be picked up from the farm within 3 days of hatching.
We will only hold birds that have been pre-paid and to the agreed upon pick-up date. If your birds are not picked up on the agreed upon pick up date, there will be an additional $1.00 per day fee. We are a small farm with limited space.
