He is going to be one of my roosters for my Easter Eggers this year. He is just so handsome 😍 And nice too, so far. But he is still a teenager, so we will see. He is my own line of blue Eggers and he is a cross between an Amerucana and a Whiting True Blue.

I love making homemade jam every year. The tricky part is to source organic fruit. We have an abundance of farms and orchards around us, but it’s hard to find fruit that is grown organically. Until our own orchard produces enough, hopefully next year as we planted our fruit trees before we even built our house.

It’s been so much fun researching chicken genetics and creating these cross breeds. And then I got to share them with so many of you. Hundreds of these little treasures now has their own little flocks on other farms and homesteads. And their colorful eggs will spread happiness and excitement to those who collect them.

Last weekend we did a little fall Farmers Market and the host advertised we would be bringing pullets. Yikes, we had already sold out, so we sat down and decided to sell 18 of the pullets that we had originally planned to keep for us. Well, within hours of posting we would be bringing these birds to the market, they were sold. So we have decided to start up the incubator and offer chicks for pick up on October 17th and November 13th. People who pre-order on our website gets a discount too. These chicks will be perfect age for those of you that want to add some pullets to your flock that will start laying early spring. Oh and we are now NPIP certified and AI clean. That means our whole flock was tested and got a clean bill of health so you can rest assure our birds are healthy as you merge them with you current flock. We also offer hatching eggs - rainbow dozen - and we are happy to accommodate requests on color. Dan has worked hard on our website and although it is not perfect, we are pretty happy with it AND our inventory is updated 🤗

Love love love the colors of my youngest hens (called pullets) that just started laying eggs. Breeding chickens for unique egg colors takes a lot of work and a lot of patience. In addition to hours of studying chicken genetics, I have to wait for the results for at least 6 months for the first generation. Some eggs take multiple generations to accomplish. These are the shades of a few different cross breeds of olive eggers, and the darkest is from my moss Eggers. The 2 blue eggs are from my splash azure eggers that I added for contrast. It’s hard to photograph olive colored eggs. Eggs surrounded by sage from my garden, and a white Echinacea flower.
